The lagoon of rice
The Albufera is a natural park with a large freshwater lagoon surrounded by rice fields, a few kilometres south of the city. This is where the rice culture that ends up in paella was born.
El Palmar and the boat
In the village of El Palmar, boatmen offer trips on the lagoon in traditional boats. Sunset, with the sun dropping onto the water, is the moment everyone comes for.
Getting there
A city bus line runs from the centre to El Palmar. By bike, take the lane through Pinedo and El Saler, between pine woods and dunes. By car it is about 25 minutes from Passeig de Neptú.
